SEA Games Cauldron

A beacon of community spirit

The sculptural showpiece incorporates the thematic essence of the SEA Games and its primary design motif – the DNA, which connects nations, communities and individuals together in a unity of aspirations. Standing at 19.2m, the sculpture was designed to beam light up to two kilometres; the cauldron itself can project the flame up to four metres high.

Besides serving as a visual centrepiece, it acts as a digital media display to relay information such as the time, weather, key game messages and live scores. It also allow fans to download information about the games and its participants through QR codes etched at the base of the cauldron.

As the architect of Sports Hub, and in line with our belief in people-centric design, DP Architects is privileged to design the cauldron for the SEA Games, to play a part in spreading the positive spirit of the Games for the local and regional community.
Designed for legacy, the cauldron can be retrofitted as a landmark or feature for community usage after the SEA Games.

An important part of the SEA Games spectacle, the intent is for the cauldron, and what it symbolises, to continue to resonate with the public long after the Games are over.

Designed for legacy even after the SEA Games, the cauldron can be retrofitted as a landmark or feature for community usage, to be a dynamic and visually engaging beacon even outside of ceremonial events.
