Seef Lusail Waterfront Master Plan
An urban waterfront concept
The Seef Lusail master plan is a joint project with Surbana Jurong as the Infrastructure Planner and DPA as Master Planner. It is conceived as an urban waterfront concept that seeks to transform the image of city living and reprise the character of traditional Qatari coastal towns that are intimate in scale, walkable and oriented to the sea for livelihoods and recreation.
The 60-hectare mixed-use development is set along a 2.3km waterfront promenade and located within Lusail City. The master plan is characterised by deeply integrated mixed-use zones that are woven together by climate-sensitive pedestrian paths and a multi-modal transportation network.

The architecture, inspired by rich local heritage, will combine contemporary with the traditional to craft a unique identity with a sense of place, taking references from the sea-oriented city layout and the Qatari coastal heritage.
The design also considers the climate in Qatar and incorporate environmentally sustainable principles. Buildings are connected to transportation stations and the waterfront promenade through a climate-controlled pedestrian network. To counter the local preference for air-conditioned indoor environments, streets and public spaces will be redesigned to make them conducive for public life.
