DP director Mr Wu Zhi Wei was invited by the Guangzhou City Planning Bureau as a panel speaker at The Conversations between Guangzhou and the World conference. Held on 9th July as part of the World Cities Summit 2018, the theme of the conference was consistent with the broader theme on “Liveable & Sustainable Cities: Embracing the Future through Innovation and Collaboration”.
Speaking on the topic of urban planning and governance, Zhi Wei shared his impressions of Guangzhou as a city and the new urban planning concepts proposed by DP that were well-received by Guangzhou's authorities and local developers. He also highlighted Singapore's experience in urban development and how it has served the nation in building a more green and sustainable city.
Zhi Wei shared the panel with academics and experts Ms Zhang Yani (Guangzhou City Planning and Design Research Institute), Ms Zheng Yu (Guangzhou Lingnan Architecture Research Centre), Ms Cao Hui (Guangzhou Transport Planning Research Institute) and Ms Zhang Jue (International Finance Forum).
The Conversations between Guangzhou and the World also effectively shed light on China’s reform and opening up with other cities around the world.
